John "Jack" O'Connell

O'Connell Funeral Director

Jack grew up in the funeral business and takes great pride in the family name.

For years he worked side by side with his father Joseph, who in 1929 founded the O'Connell Funeral Home in the Southampton community he loved and chose to raise his own family. Joe taught his son the importance of integrity and honesty in dealing with people at a time when they are most vulnerable. Licensed for almost 50 years, Jack O'Connell has built upon the reputation of his father and mentor, and expects the members of his staff to respect the principles handed down from one generation to the next. The O’Connell name remains a leader in carrying on the mission of a family-owned and highly regarded provider of funeral services.

Kenneth T. Rothwell

O'Connell Funeral Director

Ken has been there to assist families through some of the most tragic disasters of modern times.

Whether it is the incomprehensible loss of a child, or the impact of a national tragedy he has found the time to bring solace to others. Ken worked closely with families of victims of the Flight 800 disaster volunteering to transport remains from Long Island to a home in Pennsylvania. He learned a great deal during the aftermath of this crash; and the experience enabled him to assist other families following the horrific loss resulting from the World Trade Center tragedy on 9/11. His dedication and tireless efforts earned him special recognition from the Governor of New York and the Nassau/Suffolk Funeral Directors Association.
